Court wants transparent probe into EOBI case, says CJP

ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani has remarked that “court wants transparent investigations should take place in EOBI case and FIA should ensure investigations are held in consonance with law and Constitution.”
Justice Ejaz Afzal remarked “how can the court withdraw the order which it has not issued.”
CJP was presiding over a three-member bench of the Supreme Court during the course of hearing of case pertaining to sale of EOBI land at throwaway rate here on Monday.
Irfan Qadir counsel for DHA told the court about the application filed with regard to withdrawal of amount from account for payment of salaries to the employees.
Court remarked that it would initiate proceedings in this regard as per law.
FIA presented inquiry report with reference to EOBI at the outset of the hearing of the case whereby the court was told that 5.8 million rupees had come to the account of Secretary to Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, therefore, his account was freezed. When the accused was nominated he fled from the country. NESPAK had not determined the new prices correctly, therefore, the services of a firm have been hired which will determine the prices of land.
Anwar Hazoor said FIA wants prices are determined as per its sweet will.
Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani remarked “ court is saying from the very beginning investigations should be held in transparent manner.’
The parties whose names were placed on Exit Control List (ECL) filed petitions seeking deletion of their names from ECL.
The court remarked “names were not put in ECL as per court’s orders. You should consult the proper forum in this regard.”
Justice Ejaz Afzal “how can we withdraw the order which we have not issued.”
The court while seeking reply from EOBI on new petitions within a week adjourned the hearing of the case for one week. (Online)
